Celebrating the Release of Shards of Light

ShardsofLight 500x750Susan Miura’s SHARDS OF LIGHT, book 2 in the award-winning HEALER series, is now available. Events scheduled to celebrate this event are open to the public and include a book signing from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14 at Barnes and Noble, 590 E. Golf Rd., Schaumburg, IL; a book launch celebration with cake and giveaways (registration required) from 7-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7 at the Schaumburg Township District Library; and a book signing from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13 at Barnes and Noble, 200 S. Gary Ave., Bloomingdale, IL.

This young adult novel continues the story of 17-year-old Shilo Giannelli, who discovers in Healer that she possesses a spiritual power to heal. In a centuries-old convent on the slopes of Mt. Etna, Shilo encounters a force of evil, fights to shield victims of human trafficking, and attempts to unravel the mysteries of her power. An ocean away, her best friend, Melody, leaps from a platform during a ballet performance…but never reaches the other side. As Melody struggles to piece together the fragments of her shattered life, she unveils an unimaginable truth about her Nigerian heritage.

Like Healer (book 1 in the series), Shards of Light is edgy, clean fiction with plenty of action and drama, along with touches of romance, humor, courage, and faith. Issues include adoption, human trafficking, faith, depression, and rising from the ashes of a shattered dream. Both are available from major bookstores and online booksellers.
